R. STAHL is based in Waldenburg. This is where we develop and manufacture the majority of our products and system solutions. From our headquarters here, we also provide our customers and distributors worldwide with engineering and consultation services, as well as offering our extensive expertise in certification.

To ensure that we are always at the vanguard of innovation, in 2014, we erected a building in which we could conduct basic research, laboratory work and development. We employ nearly 1000 people, making us one of the largest employers in the region.

Drawing on its proven lighting expertise, R. STAHL advises customers on the best choice of lighting solution for the operating conditions in which the lighting is to be installed. At its disposal, the company has its own centre of expertise at its lighting factory in Weimar: Established over 25 years ago, this building accommodates everything that is needed to plan, develop and produce lighting for various different applications.

The lighting portfolio ranges from classic linear luminaires, pendant light fittings and floodlights to emergency lighting and signalling devices, spanning an extraordinarily wide spectrum of products for use in hazardous and non-hazardous areas. The model planning and development phases are conducted with the aim of offering system planners and operators equipment that is low-maintenance, boasts a long service life and can be operated safely anywhere in the world.

One-off, custom solutions can also be produced as needed in Weimar. And to assist with the lighting design process, R. STAHL has a number of specially developed software tools in its arsenal.

Our Cologne-based subsidiary R. STAHL HMI Systems develops and produces all different classes of Operating and Monitoring Systems, both for use in hazardous areas and for industrial standard applications.

For single-source system solutions, the operating and monitoring systems can be seamlessly combined with other R. STAHL products. We also offer comprehensive customer service and support.

R. STAHL is the world's number 1 provider of sophisticated system solutions. As the complexity of projects increases, so too does the need for integrated solutions. This is why we are continually developing and expanding the systems side of our business – at our Dutch site in Hengelo, for example. At this site, we produce over half of the system solutions for our international clients. Electromach B.V. also happens to be our large-scale control systems and innovative container solutions specialist.

2013 saw the construction of two new halls in Hengelo, adding around 2350 m² to the existing production area and effectively doubling the usable space on site. This expansion very much embodies our commitment to the systems side of our business. With a workforce of nearly 200 experienced employees, Electromach B.V. is one of R. STAHL's largest manufacturing subsidiaries. 

Ships and offshore platforms are exposed to extreme conditions. In particular, equipment that is installed on deck or outside of enclosed spaces is subject to incredibly high mechanical stresses, chemical stresses and harsh climatic conditions. Our newest manufacturing subsidiary specialises in products that are specially designed for the shipping and oil and gas industries.

Over the last few years, this company has considerably expanded its capacity, streamlined its workflows and reduced its processing times, allowing its workforce of nearly 100 employees to offer consistently reliable products (such as heating systems, helideck lighting solutions, light fittings, switchgear assemblies and automation components) and excellent customer service in a market where demand remains as high as ever.

Houston is the epicentre of the American oil and gas industry. Many energy suppliers are based here, and they turn to their local R. STAHL specialists to fulfil their product and technology needs.

Our production site in the USA has undergone significant expansion over the past few years – with 2500 m² production area at our disposal, we have enough capacity to continue pursuing our expansion drive on the American continent.

Our production facility in India has put us in a position to conquer the explosion protection market in the Asia-Pacific region, an area that offers enormous potential for growth. In 2013, we built a new factory with a production area that covers 5000 m², thereby amalgamating the existing Indian factories into a single production and development site.

Production at our Indian subsidiary is based on best-in-class, lean management principles. The facility uses a standardised quality system and boasts a state-of-the-art development laboratory. This enables us to fulfil even the strictest of international requirements, and allows us to work to the same safety standards in India as we do at all the other R. STAHL production facilities.

With this factory, we have been able to make the processes here more efficient and, in addition to expanding the production capacity, we are progressively expanding the product portfolio produced here. Customers value not only our expertise in and of itself, but also the fact that we can offer it at local level, catering to their country-specific requirements.
