What I do:
As Vice President of Technology, I am responsible for fundamental development, which primarily takes place in collaboration with external partners from universities and higher education institutions, as well as other research organisations like Fraunhofer. Alongside this, I represent Germany on the IEC Conformity Assessment Board and am a member of the DKE steering committee. As a university professor, I work at Heilbronn University, the Ernst-Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena and, as of late, the Dresden University of Technology.
What I enjoy:
I am always pleased to see how well our medium-sized business collaborates with the universities and higher education institutions I mentioned earlier. Not only because our joint research yields great results that we can use in our products, but also because it's an excellent, successful way to get young people interested in working at R. STAHL.
What I get up to outside work:
After work, I love to spend time with my family. I regularly exercise on my racing bike or mountain bike, or on the rowing machine in my conservatory, and I read a lot – particularly books on natural science.
What I do:
As a product manager at R. STAHL, I am responsible for all switching components for low-voltage power distribution boards. Among other products, this includes moulded case circuit breakers, safety switches, load and motor switches, and motor protection relays. I am an avid follower of Yoga. I practice for at least 30 minutes a day, which helps me stay more energetic, focused and ensures a brighter mood.
What I do:
1. Coordinating standardisation committees: As well as coordinating the community of R. STAHL employees within the different national and international standardisation committees, I am an active member of several committees myself.
2. Coordinating all R. STAHL laboratories: An important aspect of this role is creating standardised test instructions and implementing inspections that are relevant to standards.
3. International certification: As well as general certification projects, this role involves collecting information and distributing it internally to the different certification departments.
What I enjoy:
The excellent specialised discussions within the standardisation committees. These enable us to work on and distribute the requirements and implementation. This leads to internal discussions which, on one hand, serve to pass on the knowledge we have acquired from the standardisation committees and, on the other hand, enable us to formulate or adjust the standard accordingly, so that it can be understood and implemented. In this role, I maintain relationships with a number of contacts within R. STAHL, a range of international standardisation agencies, and employees from different standardisation committees.
