Ethernet and USB converters
The Series 9721, 9723 and 9787 converters are used to convert various industrial interfaces into explosion-protected versions. This means that common interface technologies such as Ethernet and USB can also be operated in hazardous areas. By using the intrinsic safety "i" type of protection and "op is" or "Class I" optical explosion protection, installation, operation and maintenance of devices in operation in Zone 0, 1 or 2 is permissible (hot swap, hot work). Particularly in conjunction with the Zone 1 IS1+ Remote I/O System, the converters enable the end-to-end networking of systems and access to diagnostics and asset management data, including in hazardous areas. Some versions of the converters are also allowed to be installed on-site in Zone 2 or even Zone 1.
- For 100 Mbit/s Ethernet with copper cables (intrinsically safe ‘i’) and fibre optic cables (inherently safe ‘op is’ or Class I)
- Conversion from (intrinsically safe) USB interfaces to (intrinsically safe) RS485
- Robust versions for use in the field with temperature ranges from -40 to 75 °C
