Safe protection and control of motors in the Ex area thanks to motor starter combinations
R. STAHL has explosion-protected components in its range which can be combined to form motor starter units up to 37 kW / 50 hp (480 V AC). These combinations provide protection against overload and short circuit, as well as a motor contactor for activating the relevant motors in hazardous areas. Thanks to a broad adjustment range, the protection level can be optimally adjusted to suit the conditions at the operating location.
From R. STAHL, you can receive a series of explosion-protected components, which reliably control and protect your motors. They are designed for rated currents up to 125 A and AC3 motor currents up to 96 A, and can safely switch off 10 kA short-circuit currents. In addition to a three-pole molded case circuit breaker up to 125 A, the 8550/1 series also provides for this purpose a contactor up to 96 A with coil voltages of 24 to 500 V AC/DC, as well as an electronic overload relay up to 96 A. The connection terminals can be adjusted depending on the version for 10 (6 AWG) , 25 (2 AWG) or 95 mm2 (3/0 AWG). In this combination, they control and protect motors in IECEx and ATEX areas up to 37 kW and in NEC areas up to 50 hp. A particular focus in the development phase was placed on usage in LNG areas (especially for liquefaction of natural gas), where the low weight and compact design have additional advantages. Several starter combinations are possible in one Ex e enclosure.
