CERTIFIED SOLUTIONS FOR MARINE AUTOMATION
For more than 25 years, R. STAHL's remote I/O systems have been installed on offshore platforms and LNG tankers across the seven seas. Our IS1+ systems for marine automation have been certified by twelve organisations dealing with technical safety in the shipping industry, for example. These include DNV GL, ABS or Class NK. IS1+ can easily cope with the strict requirements applicable onboard ships, such as improved radio frequency immunity or enhanced shock and vibration resistance. Our experienced specialists tailor theIS1+ Remote I/O Systems to meet each customer's requirements. They include customised cabinets with built-in components such as displays, operating elements or heating elements. Easy installation, fast and reliable operation: because the system solution has already been certified for installation in Zones 1 and 2, no further certification for hazardous areas is required.
HIGH LEVEL OF AVAILABILITY AND HOT SWAP IN HAZARDOUS AREAS
Our remote I/O modules combine the benefits of digital communication with additional data and diagnostics for safe operation and a high level of availability. IS1+ also guarantees an easy "hot swap" in hazardous areas: modules can easily be complemented or swapped during ongoing operations in hazardous areas.
The strengths of our IS1+ remote I/O system with explosion protection are particularly evident when used on LNG carriers. The elimination of DCS I/O cards and Ex i isolators as well as a substantial reduction in copper cables make the systems markedly lighter and requiring much less space. As a result, engineering becomes easier, with faster installation and commissioning.
SAVINGS DUE TO VARIETY
The various possibilities for application mean that the same I/O modules can be used both in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas as well as in safe areas. This results in additional savings in spare parts inventory management. Experience has shown that compared to conventional installations, remote I/O solutions can save up to 40% of cost, up to 80% of space and weight, and up to 60% of energy.
PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE AND MULTI-PROTOCOLS IN HAZARDOUS AREAS
IS1+ is the first remote I/O for hazardous areas with integrated predictive maintenance functions. The system identifies wear and possible failure of modules up to twelve months ahead of time, so that they can easily be replaced in time the next time the ship calls at a port.
IS1+ provides different communication protocols and can thus be connected to almost any control system. Classical field buses such as PROFIBUS DP or Modbus RTU are available alongside future-oriented Ethernet solutions such as PROFINET, Modbus TCP or EtherNet/IP. Most protocols can also be used for ring structures or system redundancies together with IS1+. These I/O modules using up to 16 channels are available for intrinsically safe as well as non-intrinsically safe signals - always featuring the full hot-swap functionality even in hazardous areas. Comprehensive diagnostics and local LED displays support users with commissioning and trouble-shooting. For more information on our solution for marine automation, please click here.
